February 23, 2012

A career as an EMT is undoubtedly a respectable and very satisfying profession. It calls for saving lives on a regular basis. You thus need to have the ability to cope with extremely demanding situations after which you react correctly under pressure. Therefore, it is by no means a profession for everyone.

EMTs respond to emergency calls so might be the very first at the scene of an accident. Naturally, no two days are identical when you are working as an EMT.

There are numerous ways to get started being an EMT, however the number one way would be to undergo some type of EMT training. You will discover 3 levels to the EMT training program.

The EMT Basic training program will be the first stage of training and provides an preliminary level of education. With this particular program, you will learn the basic concepts of treating a patient within a trauma situation. You will find methods to deal with a patient when they’re choking, in labor, have a damaged limb or having problems breathing. The key features of the course differ between states, so make sure to check out what is required in your state.

EMT Intermediate will be the next level of education once you have finished the basic level of training. The EMT intermediate stage requires additional hours of training and you’ll have to undergo a minimum of 5hours of training. The training requires much more comprehensive training and you’ll learn much more about medical treatments and procedures. Once again, the specific requirements of a training course vary from one state to another.

EMT Paramedic is the final level within the EMT training levels. Paramedic training will take around 1500 hours to complete. It’s the most advanced level and you’ll find out about the human anatomy in greater depth. Additionally, you will understand how you can perform advanced life support methods in a variety of emergency situations.

It may be worth noting that you’ll want no less than a high school diploma to become qualified for EMT training. The amount of time and standard of training required depends upon the EMT level you are acquiring. You’re also anticipated to perform some other hands-on training for practical experience which can be done in a medical facility or emergency cars.

Become an Electrician in the UK

November 19, 2011

Currently, there is a shortage of qualified electricians within the U.K. This is good news for anyone who wants to become an electrician. The responsibilities of an electrician include general maintenance, testing, inspection and fitting of electrical circuits.

In order to become a qualified electrician, one must have either a Level 3 NVQ Diploma from City & Guilds or an EAL Electricians Diploma. These courses include both theoretical units which are undertaken in a regular classroom and practical units which are completed in the workplace. Aspiring electricians must first pass the theoretical units before proceeding to the practical units.

Some colleges administer aptitude tests and colour vision assessment tests before deciding whom they are going to admit. Aspiring electricians are advised to seek work placements with electrical contractors as soon as they start their courses. This is because individuals are required to complete two to four-year apprenticeships before they can gain an NVQ level 3 and be considered qualified electricians. Such apprenticeships may either be obtained through the help of the training provider or by contacting the companies directly.

Mature individuals who have experience in the industry and would like to obtain a qualification can have their experience examined against the City & Guilds or EAL NVQs. The result of the assessment will determine whether or not the individual should obtain additional qualifications. However, the bottom line is that anyone who wants to become an electrician must obtain an NVQ from City & Guilds or EAL and have two to four years experience in the industry.
